Jesus is my God, Jesus is my Spouse, Jesus is my Life, Jesus is my only Love, Jesus is my All in All; Jesus is my Everything. - Teresa of Calcutta

Welcome

From the picture on the right, you can see our past Sunday, January 31st celebration of the Feast of the Presentation (moved from 2/2) at the church.  Over 115 gathered for a celebration of the Holy Eucharist, followed by lots of food and drink and mariachis. What fun!

Please find some time to join us in worshipping our Lord, thanking Him for all the graces that He has bestowed upon us.

From whatever tradition you come, and wherever you are in your journey of faith, we have a place for you here. Holy Redeemer is a faith community made up of many different people with different gifts, experiences and points of view. Although we celebrate our many different views and perspectives, our underlying value is caring for each other and being one people of faith.

Faithfully,

The Rev. Christina D. Encinosa

Priest-in-Charge

Maybe you haven't stepped foot in a church in 10 years, Or you've never been inside a church? Then you've come to the right place!

Holy Redeemer is a place where you can come as you are and be who you are... it is only through the love and grace of God that any of us are where we are... and therefore, all are truly welcome.

"El Levantamiento"

On December 24th we lulled the Baby Jesus to sleep with "el arruyamiento" - January 6th it was time to raise him - "el lavantamiento." As he is dressed we think of those holy people that have come before us and dress him in the clothes that they would wear.  This custom comes in preparation for "la presentacion" - the presentation of Jesus from the biblical passage: "And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord" (Luke 2:22).

The night was filled with prayer and the adoration of the Christ Child.  This was followed by lots of food and traditional King Cake - "la Rosca de Reyes."  Each cake had in it 6 tiny plastic Baby Jesus' - whoever got the figurine in their piece was to be responsible for supplying the food and drink for the Feast of the Presentation on February 2 (which we celebrated 1/31).
